Angels sing me lullabies
Softly lilting voices rise
Wafting gently through the air
Carrying an earnest prayer:
“Dream of Jesus, little one
He who hung the moon and sun
Cradles you all through the night
Safely snug ‘til morning light.
Safely snug ‘til morning light.”
(My father [Sophie's Great Grandfather] wrote an original tune for this lullaby. It may also be sung to the tune of Mary Poppins’ “Stay Awake.”)

Note from Marie: I originally wrote this for Hannah Gosselin's precious little one, who was experiencing night terrors at that time.
ReplyDeleteI remember this one, Marie. It's one of my FAVORITES. It's good to hear why it was originally written, but also good to see it find yet another home and heart to be meant for. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely.
LondyLuv! Thank you so much! I love the way you worded that ... "good to see it find yet another home and heart to be meant for." That's exactly how I feel about it. We actually THREE new little hearts: Eamon (great nephew), Jordyn (great niece), and of course Sophie (grand daughter). Needless to say, we are feeling mighty blessed these days.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, Londy!
Hey, Why didn't I see this one before I posted and push it out of top spot? I remember the what and why of the lullabye, but its beauty befits Sophia nicely.

Awww....makes me want to have another....beautiful, Marie. LOVE that lullaby!
ReplyDeleteI remember this, too... it still gives me goosebumps.
ReplyDeleteHey, no need to apologize over there across the lake! =)
ReplyDeleteShaunaBabe and KatiePie: Muuuuuuuuu-AH! So fun seeing my dreamteam buddies out here back-to-back! But seriously, thank you so much for the sweet and generous words.
What lucky grandkids. So lovely.
